Project Independent Review

Project Independent Review

We perform independent project reviews at various stages of the project lifecycle to meet different client requirements such as identifying opportunities for value enhancement and performing design reviews of technically challenging aspects.

Independent Project Reviews (IPRs) are project management mechanisms that enable an unbiased, outside expert to assess a project's progress and health and recommend course corrections or point out improvement opportunities.

IPR process works, warns against some of its common pitfalls, and offers suggestions about how to get the most of an IPR.

We offer constructive criticism and recognize achievement instead of focusing on fault and low performance.

Our team can use the information provided by complainers, detractors, and know-it-alls without indulging in useless dialogue. Success of the team is also dependent upon the frankness and receptiveness of the sponsors, team members, and IPR participants.

Our approach typically involves:

  • Extensive project document review
  • Value engineering workshop with client project team
  • Coarse screening of opportunities identified (again in workshop environment)
  • Technical definition and quantification of retained initiatives
  • Scope assessment as appropriate for the project
  • Report of recommendations
